COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Arnold Sports Festival, the largest multi-sport festival in the nation and home of the world-renowned Arnold Classic professional men’s bodybuilding championships, will again present more than 50 sports and events at the annual celebration of health and fitness.
The 2015 Arnold Sports Festival will be held March 5-8, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio. The Arnold Sports Festival will attract an estimated 175,000 sports and fitness enthusiasts to watch 18,000 athletes from 80 countries compete in 50 sports and events, including 13 Olympic events.
With the closing of Franklin County Veterans Memorial, the Arnold Classic, related IFBB Pro League events and the Arnold Amateur Bodybuilding Championships will be held at the Battelle Grand at the Greater Columbus Convention Center for the first time.
New events in 2015 include the Arnold Kids Fitness EXPO, set for March 7-8 at the Ohio Expo Center. Competitions for cheerleading, table tennis, CrossFit Endeavor and the Survival Race will also move to the Ohio Expo Center. The Kids Fitness EXPO will focus on youth sports, demonstrations, clinics and exhibits.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jim Lorimer have co-produced the Arnold Sports Festival since it debuted in 1989 as a one-day bodybuilding competition known as the Arnold Classic. The Arnold Sports Festival has grown over the years into a four-day festival that features a variety of sports, including professional and amateur bodybuilding, weightlifting, powerlifting and strongman. Youth sports includes gymnastics, cheerleading and dance, fencing, and martial arts, among others.
The Arnold Fitness EXPO, March 6-8, 2015 will again be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center and features more than 900 booths of the latest in sports equipment, apparel and nutrition, and two stages that host competitions and entertainment. In addition to the Arnold Kids Fitness EXPO, other new sports and events include the WWE, rowing and chess.
Olympic sports, in which youth compete and Olympians or Olympic hopefuls appear, include archery, boxing, fencing, gymnastics, judo, running, swimming, table tennis, tae kwon do, tennis, track & field, weightlifting and wrestling.
