As it pertains to women's bodybuilding, the past three decades have flown by at breakneck speed and with those decades - and almost as quickly - has come the winds of change.  For the sake of this article we'll use 1982, '92, '02, and 2012 as benchmarks of each ten years to the present, and because the most prestigious amateur contest in each of those years was the AFWB American Women's Championships which would become the NPC Nationals in 1984, the primary focus of this story will be built around the combination of those two events.

The first competitive season of women's Physique contests at the IFBB pro level is now in the record books, and the new division, with little argument, is off to a good start. With a group of contestants that was generated largely from the national-level amateur events staged by the NPC in the United States last year, as well as an additional contingent of entrants that was international in scope, the curiosity of just how the contestants would look – as well as how they would be judged – piqued everyone's interest.

Atlanta, Georgia, November 10th:  Somehow, the 2011 competitive season in the new Physique division now seems like a distant memory when national-level events such as the NPC Junior USA, Junior Nationals, Team Universe, USA,  and IFBB North American all welcomed considerable numbers of entrants chasing the chance to reach the IFBB pro ranks in a division that fit somewhere between Figure and Bodybuilding.

Culver City, California, October 20th:  The Titan Grand Prix was the 13th IFBB Pro Physique division event of the year and promoter Jon Lindsay offered up a very competitive field that featured a dizzying array of dynamic physiques that included entrants from six countries including the USA.  Included in this group were eight contestants who were making their Pro Physique division debuts.
